Terms of Service
Last updated: July 19, 2026
The short version: Aspet turns your lectures into study materials. You keep ownership of your recordings and notes. Paid plans renew monthly until you cancel, and you can cancel anytime. AI output can contain mistakes, so verify it against your course materials and never use it for patient care. Be sure you are allowed to record a lecture before you record it.
1. Who we are
Aspet ("Aspet", "we", "us") is a study service for students, available at aspet.app and study.aspet.app. It is operated by an independent developer. You can reach us anytime at aspet.app@gmail.com.
By creating an account or using Aspet, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Aspet.
2. The service
Aspet records or accepts uploads of your lectures, transcribes them, and uses AI to generate study materials from them: notes, flashcards, quizzes, chapter outlines, and an AI study chat. Features vary by plan, and monthly limits for each plan are shown on our pricing page and inside the app.
3. Who can use Aspet
You must be at least 13 years old to use Aspet (or at least 16 where local law sets a higher minimum age for data consent). If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use Aspet with the permission of a parent or guardian. You may not use Aspet if you have previously been banned from it.
4. Your account
- Give us accurate information and keep your email address current: it is how we reach you about your account.
- Keep your password private. Your account is for you alone; do not share credentials or let others use your account.
- You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access.
5. Plans, billing, and renewal
- Free plan. Aspet has a free plan with monthly usage limits. We may adjust free plan limits over time.
- Paid plans. Pro and Premium are monthly subscriptions billed through our payment processor, Stripe. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay.
- Automatic renewal. Paid plans renew automatically each month, and your payment method is charged at the start of each billing period, until you cancel.
- How to cancel. Cancel anytime in the app under Settings: Manage Billing, or by emailing aspet.app@gmail.com. After you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, then it does not renew.
- Price changes. Promotional launch pricing may end for new subscribers at any time. If the price of your existing subscription ever changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before it takes effect, and you can cancel before the new price applies.
- Taxes. Prices are in US dollars. Depending on where you live, sales tax or VAT may be added at checkout.
6. Refunds
If we billed you in error, or a technical problem on our side kept you from using what you paid for, email us and we will make it right. Beyond that, payments are non-refundable and we do not give partial refunds for unused time: when you cancel, you keep access until the end of the paid period instead. Nothing in this section limits any refund or withdrawal rights that the law of your country gives you and that cannot be waived.
7. Usage limits and fair use
Each plan includes monthly limits (for example transcription minutes, uploads, and recording length). Limits reset every month and unused amounts do not carry over. To keep the service fast and affordable for everyone, we may apply reasonable technical safeguards such as rate limits, file size caps, and abuse detection. Accounts that circumvent metering, resell access, or automate bulk usage may be limited or closed.
8. Your content
- You own it. Your recordings, uploads, transcripts, notes, and other study materials remain yours. These Terms do not transfer any ownership to us.
- License to operate. You give us the limited permission we need to run the service: to store your content, transmit it, and process it with our transcription and AI providers, solely to provide Aspet's features to you. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for brief residual copies described in the Privacy Policy.
- Your responsibility. You are responsible for the content you record or upload and must have the rights needed to use it with Aspet.
9. Recording lectures responsibly
Recording rules vary by place and by school. Some regions require the consent of everyone being recorded, and many schools have their own policies about recording lectures. Before recording, make sure you are allowed to: check your school's policy and, if in doubt, ask your instructor. Aspet is a personal study tool; do not redistribute recorded lectures or materials generated from them beyond what your school and your instructor permit.
10. Copyright complaints
We respect intellectual property. If you believe content stored on Aspet infringes your copyright, email aspet.app@gmail.com with the details: what the work is, where the infringing material lives, and how we can contact you. We will review promptly, remove infringing material where appropriate, and may close the accounts of repeat infringers.
11. AI output and study disclaimer
Aspet is a study aid, not a clinical reference and not a source of medical advice. Transcripts, notes, flashcards, quizzes, and chat answers are generated by AI from your recordings, and AI makes mistakes: it can mishear words, garble drug names and doses, and state clinical facts incorrectly. Always verify what you study against your official course materials and current clinical references. Never use Aspet to make decisions about patient care, medication dosing, or any other clinical matter. We make no promises about grades or exam results.
12. Acceptable use
Do not use Aspet to:
- break the law, infringe others' rights, or upload content you have no right to use;
- violate your school's academic integrity rules: you are responsible for how you use Aspet in your coursework;
- probe, disrupt, or overload the service, bypass usage metering or security controls, or access other users' data;
- scrape the service, resell it, or use automation to extract data or usage beyond your plan;
- upload malware or content that is unlawful or harmful to others;
- reverse engineer the service except where the law expressly permits it.
13. Changes to the service
Aspet is actively developed, so features may be added, changed, or removed over time. If we ever discontinue the service entirely or remove a core paid feature, we will give paying subscribers reasonable advance notice and will not charge for time we do not deliver.
14. Termination
You can stop using Aspet and delete your account at any time in Settings: Delete Account, which permanently erases your account and content as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the service, or create risk for us or other users; where reasonable, we will warn you first. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive (such as sections 8, 11, 15, and 16) survive termination.
15. Disclaimers
Aspet is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that your content will never be lost: keep copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.
16. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for all claims relating to Aspet is limited to the greater of USD 50 or the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you; in those places our liability is limited to the smallest extent the law allows.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service evolves. For material changes we will notify you by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Aspet after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms; if you do not agree, stop using the service and delete your account.
18. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict of law rules, and disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California. If you are a consumer, you also keep any protection given by the mandatory consumer laws of the place where you live.
